S. P. Tuomisto

S. P. Tuomisto

S. P. Tuomisto is the bassist of Lahoava, but on the band’s two most recent singles and the upcoming album, he also plays the guitars. A self-taught musician, his approach to music is rooted in instinct, listening, and experience. He chose the bass because, as he puts it, “you can feel the bass.”

His musical path began at a young age alongside A. S. Kivineva and S. P. Keltaniemi in the band Kalman Varjot, where he played keyboards. He later moved on to bass and played in the rock band Anza – which also brought M. J. Talkkari into Lahoava’s orbit – as well as in numerous other projects, some of which remained unnamed but still left their mark on his playing style and tone.

His musical influences include Faith No More, Paradise Lost, and Pink Floyd – along with countless others, unrestricted by rigid genre boundaries.

Within Lahoava, Tuomisto’s particular strength lies in his deeper understanding of matters of sound and tone – insights that the other band members hold in high regard.

Tuomisto draws energy from nature and movement: cycling and getting lost in the woods are his favored ways of simply being. At home in Seinäjoki, he’s most often found with an instrument in hand, under the critical gaze of his cat, Soma.
