We cordially invite you to step into the shadowy embrace of Lahoava, a band founded under the dark clouds of 2023. With careful sensitivity, we seek to blend various subgenres of metal with the cinematic storytelling ambiance, occasionally drawing into the enchanting realms of Finnish folk music.
Our lyrics are inspired by tales from Finnish history and folklore—morbid stories steeped in death—that explore themes of sorrow, fear, love, misery, passion, and mortality. The name Lahoava refers to something that decays or rots, particularly wood.
The story of our band traces back to the turn of the millennium, when the fervent and passionate roar of metal from a group of young musicians filled the air of a small village. This group released a few self-produced recordings and performed on nearby stages, sometimes even performing as the opening act for more well-known bands.
Two decades later, old friends reunited and decided to form Lahoava. While the name was new, and the songs fresh, their original inspirations had ignited back then in the vigor of our youth.
After releasing our first song, however, there were changes in the lineup, ushering in new blood. Yet, many of us share a long history of making music together, though the current ensemble is entirely new.
Our earnest aim is to prepare and release several recordings in the times ahead. We hope for your invaluable presence and sincerely welcome you to join us on this darkened journey, accompanied by the ever-present shadow of death.
